Recognition
The Malek Awards are a sequence — each level building on the last. Many hunters begin with a Malek Medal and build toward a national Trophy. A few complete the Grand Slam. The Golden Award, the Malek Awards' highest honor, stands apart and recognizes Grand Slam award winners who have hunted all species fair-chase & free-range, except for the Wapiti.

Medals
I
The first step in the Malek Award.
The Malek Medal is the entry point into the Malek Awards. It certifies the fair-chase pursuit of a single eligible species in Australia or New Zealand — the first formal mark of recognition in a hunter’s journey. Animals can be taken free-range or ranch-style.
Requirement
One eligible species, obtained in accordance with the Malek Rules and hunted in the South Pacific.

Australia
II
A focused NATIONAL achievement.
The Malek Trophy for Australian Game recognizes the completion of the national circuit — seven out of ten eligible species pursued across the continent. From the Sambar of the high Victorian alps to the wild Boar of the northern catchments, each species brings the hunter to a unique habitat in this iconically beautiful country.
Requirement
Any 7 of these species hunted in Australia: Sambar, Chital, Red Deer, Hog Deer, Fallow, Rusa, Buffalo, Banteng, Boar and Goat.
NOTE
Animals taken with Malek Accredited Outfitters will not accrue additional fees on application for necessary verifications.

NEW ZEALAND
III
A clear NATIONAL goal.
The Malek Trophy for New Zealand Game is at times physically demanding, but always breathtakingly scenic. Seven species across the north and the south islands — each with their own unique challenge in elevation, weather, and resilience. Hunters may also choose to hunt Pitt Island Ram and Fiordland Stag in the remote Chatham Islands.

The full Malek challenge.
The J.J. and D.P. Malek South Pacific Grand Slam Award is the ultimate achievement —15 species from Australia and New Zealand, sometimes pursued over a lifetime but always pursued with determination, resilience and fortitude. Only around 30 hunters have completed it since 1984.

The Malek Golden Award is a recognition of excellence. This is the Grand Slam but with recognition of the unparalleled pursuit of excellence in securing all fourteen of the fifteen species in Australia and New Zealand fair-chase and free-range.
